Hello! Thank you for coming to take a look at this invention. I am Paulina, mother of two gorgeous boys, Santiago (5) and Sebastian (3), who had taught me the most important lessons of my life: how to give birth and how not to give birth. Of course, I would have never been able to survive the challenge of giving birth and raise those kids without the lovely, unconditional and compassive support and humor of my husband Paulo.
I come from Chile, where I met Paulo who is from Mexico. Together we have been moving from Mexico to Colorado, Colorado to Pennsylvania at the same time we have been having children.
I became a Lamaze Educator in 2006, because I believe in the woman's right to make decisions based in evidence, their dreams and their history. I believe in their capability to make responsible decisions that will make them look back at their past and feel empower, no matter what the outcome was. And I strongly believe that women need a supportive environment to give birth, where she is respected and compassionately understood, empowered by her care providers, community and family.
I become a Birth Doula(DONA) in 2008 because I can't stop myself from wanting to be in births, because I know that whatever happens, it makes a difference to have a doula in the room. Because I trust birth and women giving birth, I want every woman to feel that way.
I learned to knit from my mother, or nanny, or grandmother, maybe from my sister, or my brother o my Dad. I don't remember, but I do remember many of the yarns that have been around my life in important moments. A sweater, a blanket, socks... and I look at it, and I found it the best example of how my life has come together as a bunch of stitches and threads.
Please, if you have an story to tell, send me an email and you can be part of this project that puts together the stitches and threads of many women telling their birth stories.
